Dr. Hassan Moghadam

Dr. Moghadam completed his dental training at McGill University followed by a multidisciplinary residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Toronto and pursued a Masters in Science in the field of bone engineering. He has lectured and published both nationally and internationally in the field of bone regeneration, implant surface design and soft tissue surgery. His lecture series is dedicated to the regeneration of perimplant tissues. His past researched looked at coating implant surfaces with TGF-beta and later went on to publish the first ever human case of mandibular regeneration using BMP-2. His current research interests include stem cell based bone regeneration and he is working closely with the university of Ottawa developing a plant based BMP-2 production model. He is evaluating commercially available bone substitutes as well as developing a system for nerve detection during implant surgery. He is on the Health Canada National surveillance committee which is involved in developing standards for cells, tissues and organ transplants in Canada.
